From the document: “OPENING STATEMENT OF SENATOR VOINOVICH Senator VOINOVICH. The hearing will please come to order. The Subcommittee on Oversight of Government Management will be in order. Good afternoon, and thank you all for coming. This afternoon's hearing is entitled ‘Waging War On Waste: An Examination of the Department of Defense's Business Practices.’ The rules of this Committee give the Subcommittee jurisdiction over the management, efficiency, and effectiveness, and economy of all departments, agencies, and programs of the Federal Government. I will never forget what my predecessor in the Senate John Glenn said, ‘If you can get on Governmental Affairs, George, do it, because it means that you can meddle in anything you want to.’”
