From the executive summary: “Fiscal year (FY) 2021 marked the fourth consecutive year the Department of Defense (DOD) completed DOD-wide financial statement audits, including standalone financial statement audits conducted by independent public accounting firms and the consolidated Agency-wide audit performed by the DOD Office of Inspector General (OIG). Although progress over these four years has been mostly steady, it must be accelerated to meet Defense leaders’ needs for accurate and timely information on the Department’s fiscal position. The Department has to do more.”
