From the report: “We conducted a broad-based review of various aspects of the Department of the Navy’s financial management operations. We are reporting on the reliability of the Navy’s fiscal year 1994 consolidated financial reports1 so that the Navy and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) can • improve the credibility of the Navy’s financial reports, starting with those prepared for fiscal year 1995 and • enhance their ability to prepare required reliable annual financial statements for the Navy, beginning with those for fiscal year 1996.”
