From the document: "It is DoD policy to: a. Conduct DoD public and private Internet-based communications (e.g., electronic mail and Web operations) under the TLD established for the DoD—the .mil TLD—in accordance with Reference (c). Enclosure 2 describes the delegation of this TLD to the DoD and the purpose of other major TLDs. Enclosure 3 lists exceptions and situations that may warrant special approval for the use of other TLDs. b. Use DoD-approved domains to resolve (i.e., translate) only to IP addresses and, as needed, virtual containers, servers, services, and/or information technology entities that are approved to operate by the responsible authorizing official, in accordance with DoDIs 8510.01 and 8500.01 (References (d) and (e))."
