From the report: "A central goal of CIM is to improve Defense operations and reduce costs through improved management of information. To help achieve CIM’S goal, Defense recognizes that it must manage its data resources as corporate assets. As such, Defense wants to improve the quality, accuracy, and integrity of data used in its information systems by defining and enforcing standard data eIements. Using standard data elements allows data values to be captured once and then shared among different Defense functions to meet corporate user needs."
