Sarah K. John

Dr. Sarah John is an Assistant Division Director in IDA’s Cost Analysis and Research Division (CARD). Her fields of expertise include labor economics, public economics, and health economics. Dr. John’s research at IDA has focused primarily on the military health care. She has led numerous studies on the military health system across a variety of topic areas including: medical readiness, medical education and training, DOD-VA resource sharing, modernizing the TRICARE program, overseas treatment facilities, and military-civilian trauma partnerships. She has also worked on southwest border security.
Sarah has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Kentucky, where she was a Research Assistant for the University of Kentucky Center for Poverty Research. She has a B.A. in economics from Transylvania University. Dr. John is a member of the American Economic Association (AEA) and a Board Member and Secretary for the Economics of National Security Association (ENSA).
