From the executive summary: “The 2018 National Defense Strategy highlights a security environment that is changing rapidly as a result of “relentless” development of new technologies1 As these emerging technologies become increasingly central to the future of warfare, it is imperative for the U.S. national security community to invest in expanding the community of individuals with the critical skills necessary to meet the challenges of this new technologycentric environment. To achieve that goal, DOD operates a number of outreach programs that target students from elementary school through collegiate and graduate programs to encourage them to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.”
