Former Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management and Comptroller

The Honorable Robert (Bob) M. Speer currently leads his own consulting practice, where he serves as a Senior Advisor to other defense firms. In addition, he serves on corporate boards, as well as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Code of Support Foundation, a 501(C)(3), not-for- profit organization, providing assistance to Military Service Members, Veterans and their families. Prior to his current pursuits, the Honorable Robert Speer served as the Acting Secretary of the U.S. Army, from January to August 2017, following being Presidential Appointed and Senate confirmed as the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management and Comptroller on December 1, 2014. He was also designated the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management and Comptroller) from October 2009 to November 2014.

Prior to these assignments, Mr. Speer served as a Managing Director for PricewaterhouseCoopers Public Services, where he led their Defense and Army business. He has been significantly involved in Department of Defense financial management solutions and defense related professional organizations throughout his career. He served nearly 28 years in the U. S. Army where he gained in-depth experience and progressive responsibility in command and staff positions in the Army and the Joint Force, to include Battalion Command in the 82d Airborne Division, Brigade Level Command of a Defense Agency operation, and Commandant of the United States Army Finance School.

Bob grew up in a military family, so he lived and travelled throughout and outside of the United States. He was commissioned through ROTC as a distinguished military graduate where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, accounting, University of Notre Dame; Master of Business Administration, management of information systems, Indiana University; Master of Science, national resource strategy, Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Washington, DC.
